About Fresh Norwegian Salmon

Our fresh Norwegian Salmon is "farmed in the wild" in open ocean farms in the pristine waters along the Arctic Circle. These salmon are raised under the strictest farming standards in the world – free of ANY antibiotics, growth hormones, and preservatives. The whole process is meant to replicate the wild conditions a salmon would grow in naturally, but under controlled conditions. Every step of the process is Certified Sustainable by the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC).

Every salmon is fed a custom, nutrient rich diet made up of oily fish (anchovy, herring, mackerel) and plant ingredients, which make it incredibly rich in essential heart healthy omega 3 fatty acids (over 3,350 mg per 5 ounce portion!). This high fat diet also rewards the salmon with it's delicious buttery flavor and melt in your mouth texture.

Every portion of fresh salmon is individually cut and kept precisely chilled at or below 34°F. Now that's how you keep your salmon fresh!

  • Express shipping ensures that our customers seafood is precisely temperature controlled in transit to maintain maximum freshness upon arrival.

Can you Freeze Fresh Salmon?

We would recommend enjoying your salmon fresh, if possible. But if you plan on freezing some for later, we would recommend freezing immediately upon receiving. Then wrap your salmon in plastic wrap or parchment paper, place in a sealed freezer safe bag (without any air in it), and store flat in the coldest part of your freezer.

How Long Can Fresh Salmon Stay in the Fridge?

Our fresh salmon can last up to 5 days in the fridge. If you know you will not be able to enjoy the salmon within that time, we would recommend freezing asap.

Preparation Instructions

How to Pan Sear Salmon

  1. Heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering but not smoking.
  2. Season salmon portions with salt and pepper.
  3. Add salmon carefully to the oil. They should sizzle when placed in pan. Try not to move salmon until you’re ready to flip.
  4. Lower heat to medium and cook 4-5 minutes. Flip. Cook another 3-4 minutes, or until fully cooked.

How to Bake Salmon

  1. Preheat oven to 400 F.
  2. Spray layer of cooking oil in Pyrex baking dish. Place salmon in dish.
  3. Pour 1/8 inch wine or water into dish to surround Salmon.
  4. Bake for 14-16 minutes.

How to Know Your Salmon is Fully Cooked

Check for doneness by gently pushing the flat side of a wooden skewer through the thickest part of the fish. If it goes through with no resistance, it is done. If there is resistance, cook for another minute or so and test again.

    The Freshest I've Had

I've tried a LOT of North Coast's stuff, but my favorite is still the fresh salmon. I thought I didn't even like salmon before this b/c everything I had tried was so "fishy"... oh boy was I blown away once I experienced what salmon is SUPPOSED to taste like!!
