Our crab meat has a refrigerated shelf life of 12 months. Each can also has a Sell By date on the bottom of it, which can also be used as a "Use By/Eat By" date.
We do not recommend freezing the cans of crab meat, if you can avoid it. Once frozen and then thawed, the crab meat will taste a bit different than ideal (slightly inferior flavor and texture). However, if you NEED to freeze the crab meat, you certainly can, as long as you are aware of the impact on quality.

So yes, crab is super expensive right now, but if I’m going to buy it, I’m buying it from NCS. It arrived frozen, so I thawed it in the fridge and made 4 nice sized crab cakes. It’s a treat, but one we’ve earned for sure! Attached is a picture of my crab cakes going into the oven.
